Carriers of the Cross / The guild guide

Our Charter

Our mission, vision, values, and commitment to a healthy Christian gaming community.

1. Mission Statement

To glorify God by building a Christ-centered, family-friendly World of Warcraft community where players develop meaningful friendships, encourage one another in faith, and enjoy the game together.

2. Vision Statement

To be a welcoming, thriving Christian community within WoW Forever, known for genuine fellowship, biblical encouragement, and demonstrating the love of Christ to everyone we encounter.

3. Core Values

1. Christ First

We seek to glorify God in everything we do, including how we play, speak, lead, and treat others. (1 Corinthians 10:31)

2. Genuine Fellowship

We build meaningful relationships through shared adventures, prayer, biblical encouragement, and supporting one another both in and outside the game.

3. Love One Another

We demonstrate Christ's love through kindness, humility, generosity, and helping one another. We welcome people regardless of where they are in their faith. (1 John 4:7–11)

4. Biblical Integrity

We uphold biblical convictions, encourage respectful discussion of Scripture, and protect our community from behavior that undermines its Christian character.

5. Unity in Community

We strive to be a family, not merely a collection of players. We actively include others, resist cliques and gossip, and handle disagreements with grace and humility.

4. Fellowship Statement

Christian Fellowship: Coming together to pray, discuss Scripture, encourage spiritual growth, share struggles, and strengthen one another in our walk with Christ.
Community Fellowship: Building friendships through gaming, shared experiences, conversation, and simply enjoying one another's company.
Both are important to CotC. We believe meaningful Christian community can develop through ordinary friendships and shared adventures, not only through explicitly spiritual activities.

5. Culture Statement

CotC strives to be a welcoming, family-like community where members are known, included, encouraged, and valued.
We want a culture where people respond when someone speaks, offer help without being asked, invite others into activities, and demonstrate genuine interest in one another.
We welcome respectful disagreement, including discussions about difficult biblical topics, while expecting humility, grace, and love. We reject gossip, divisiveness, and behavior that damages relationships.
Our environment will remain PG and family-friendly, with leadership committed to protecting the community's biblical convictions.

6. Leadership Philosophy

Servant Leadership: Leaders exist to serve the community, not to be served by it.
CotC leaders should demonstrate:
* Humility: Putting the needs of others ahead of personal recognition.
* Commitment: Believing in and actively supporting the guild's mission.
* Emotional Maturity: Listening well, handling conflict wisely, and treating people with grace.
* Biblical Maturity: Demonstrating a growing relationship with Christ and sound biblical judgment.
* Active Participation: Playing alongside members, building relationships, and sometimes setting aside personal gameplay goals to serve others.
A leader's success should be measured by the health of the community, not their rank or authority.

7. Membership Philosophy

CotC is a distinctly Christian guild that welcomes both Christians and non-Christians who wish to participate in our community and respect its values.
Membership and ordinary rank advancement do not require a profession of Christian faith. However, positions of spiritual and organizational leadership require Christian faith and biblical maturity.
We will not assume that every member shares our beliefs, nor will we treat non-Christian members as second-class participants.
Our desire is that everyone who joins CotC experiences genuine kindness, humility, and the love of Christ.
